Sunday's Ride

I have looked at Electra bikes since 2003 and been hooked ever since.  The pristine Amsterdams, fun cruisers and my favorite, the Townies.  I had a Trek for years and sold it to a co-worker recently.  I've wanted a more relaxed, less aggressive riding style to cruise around my lovely neighborhood, ride to the market or bike the local trails, maybe even a quick ride downtown....I finally landed on the 2011 Electra Townie Balloon 8d...pearl coffee brown.  The flat-feet technology, retro-style and modern builds.  Found this beauty at Spokes Little Rock at 1001 Kavanaugh in Hillcrest http://www.spokesshop.com/  Very friendly, knowledgeable staff with a wide selection of bikes, helmets, gear and a tasty coffee selection!  Thankfully they are open on Sundays 1-5 through Christmas.  Owners Mat and Regina Seelinger were both very helpful.  Big thanks to my Mom and Dad for going with me to pick it out and tote it home.  If you see me around town on my new wheels, stop and say hi :)  Happy riding!

Contribute

When considering Christmas gifts this year, please consider the gift of Heifer.  Donate a flock of geese, ducks or chicks, maybe a trio of rabbits or a knitting basket in honor of a friend or loved one.  It's a wonderful way to let your loved one know you care not only about them but about the world around them.  Please visit http://www.heifer.org/ to view their gift catalog.  You will help support a local Arkansas charity as well.  They do great work in the fight to end world hunger.

Steve Young's Still Got It

Props to my good friend Chris Brissey!  Chris made it to the Chargers game last week and snapped this pic of #8 on the sidelines.  Great job Chris and thanks again!

Vibrant

Fall is upon us...

Heights Sip & Shop

On the first Thursday every month, the neighborhood gets together for the Heights Sip & Shop.

Art galleries, boutiques and stores are open late:

Hot Dog Mike is indeed the coolest cart in Little Rock!  Straight from New Jersey...our very own hot dog peddler...don't forget he's available for parties, weddings, etc.  Since local laws prevent him from being in the same place each day, be sure to follow him here:  http://hotdogmike.com/blog/ or on Twitter or Facebook.

Mr. and Mrs. Hot Dog Mike provide tasty fare for the Hillcrest and Heights neighborhood parties:

If you get the opportunity, please stop by Sushi Cafe...they have THE best sushi in Little Rock.  Their prepared entrees are delicious as are their varied appetizers...and delectable martinis.  It's a lively, yet warmly inviting restaurant with an expansive bar, party room, sushi bar and both indoor and outdoor seating.  Always a wait but it's completely worth it!

Currently on the needles...

Blue Sky Alpaca makes some of the softest yarn in beautifully-saturated colors in alpaca or various alpaca blends, but in this case...100% cotton in this fun shade of aqua. I am thinking this yarn might stretch but time will tell. It's so fun to knit with!

Autumn Awakening

I love the changing of the seasons but I'm especially fond of the transition from the sweltering days of summer into the cool, crisp days of Autumn.  Not only is it football season but there are beautiful shades of orange, gold and red that cover the landscape.

Overreaction

I think Coach Schwartz overreacted to Coach Harbaugh's handshake.  Calm down Schwartz!

Late-Summer Blooms

I noticed today that the hostas in my front shrub bed are in full-bloom.  This is a delight because I thought they were going to shrivel up and die out in the 110 degree drought-ridden months of summer.  So happy that long summer is on its way out and a cool, brisk autumn is just around the corner.  I did a little research and discovered that a common name for hostas is "funkia."  There doesn't seem to be anything funky about them.  The monkey grass...I just appreciate it's beauty, versatility and low-low maintenance.  It's a happy grass.
